Doug Craig’s Achievements and Recent Challenges

Doug Craig, one of the founders of WCP, has garnered numerous awards for his outstanding work in television shows and documentaries throughout Australia. His contributions have been widely recognised, establishing a legacy of excellence within the industry.

Impact of Health Setback

Unfortunately, Doug suffered a stroke in late 2024, which resulted in all WCP projects being placed on hold for a period of time. This unexpected event temporarily halted ongoing work and future plans.

Resumption of Project Activities

As of late 2025 and into the beginning of 2026, WCP is actively reviewing and restarting work on its various projects. The team is now moving forward, building on previous achievements and beginning new initiatives after the period of pause. Starting with the Australian Light Horse Association documentary.

Some of these projects are:

The Setting of the Rising Sun

The documentary series will be presented by military historian Major Don Hampton (retired). Filming will take place on location in New Guinea, drawing upon both original footage and supplementary material sourced from media libraries and the Australian War Museum. This approach ensures a rich and authentic visual narrative throughout the series.

The project will result in three commercial-length documentaries, each running for 60 minutes (or 55 minutes for non-commercial release). These documentaries are intended to serve as the flagship for an ongoing series, with each instalment focusing on related historical subjects.

In addition to the documentaries, a fully electronic, interactive e-Book will be developed. This e-Book will be made available for sale to public, university, and school libraries, as well as through armed forces networks. Furthermore, a DVD version of the documentaries will be produced for worldwide release, ensuring broad accessibility and engagement.

Stage: In final script and  preproduction stage, production dates to be decided in 2026.

Beer the Inspiration of Man

Registered WGA-W

Humans have been around for about 100,000 years. The first 90,000 we achieved absolutely nothing.  All human accomplishments have been made in the last ten thousand years; from agriculture, to writing, from mathematics to modern medicine.

So what happened that inspired us into creativity, invention and our modern civilization?  The answer is Beer!   Beer happened, and it changed the world forever.

I say, “Beer happened” because BEER isn’t the invention of one man, or a group or race of people. Beer was a worldwide phenomenon that happened around ten thousand years ago.

At first it sounded too bizarre to be true, but it seems we’re not the only people who think this way; many anthropologists and archaeologists believe that it was the taste for beer, not bread, that started the agricultural revolution around 8,000Bc.

The first civilization known to exist: Mesopotamia (the land between two rivers). In modern day Iraq, people started growing crops and domesticating animals, to help them do so. In this society the most valuable commodity was Beer. In the parallel development of civilizations such as China and then in Egypt, Beer retained its glorious stature.

The two 60  minute documentaries will be produced in conjunction with the online  streaming TV series, it is educational, light entertainment, funny in places but totally factual. It shows how beer helped build the Pyramids and the Great Wall of China, how people drank beer in the morning hot or cold as it was safer than water, how the taxman in the early middle ages in Europe tested the alcohol content to determine the tax not by drinking it but by sitting in it. Pastuerisation was invented for beer not milk as we were told, eventually used for milk 25 years later.

We currently have the full support of the top major beer manufacturers in the world, such as Heineken, Carlsberg, Kirin, AB-Inbev, Asahi, Molson Coors and many other brewers, who are backing us and have allowed us access to their respective histories on the beer they are making so that we can show the development of beer around the world and its impact on man.

So what is the world’s most popular beer? What’s the country that drinks the most per capita? The strongest beer manufactured? To the new micro breweries, and the rise of beer tourism.  Discover the manufacturing secrets of this nectar of the gods, the third most consumed liquid on the planet (after water and tea) join us as we explore this wonderful world.

Stage: Due to Doug's Stroke, this project is scheduled to be reassessed mid 2026.
